Estudo de 15 Casos de Falência do Tratamento Antimonial em Pacientes com Leishmaniose Tegumentar Americana. Resultados Preliminares

Foi realizado um estudo preliminar retrospectivo de 15 casos de falha na resposta terapêutica ao antimonial pentavalente em pacientes com Leishmaniose Tegumentar Americana (LTA) na forma cutânea. Não houve diferenças em relação ao sexo, idade, tempo de evolução. Dos 16 pacientes que inicialmente apresentaram falhas na resposta terapêutica ao primeiro ciclo de antimonial pentavalente, 12 fizeram o tratamento com injeções diárias por 30 dias e 4 foram tratados com séries de 10 injeções diárias seguidas de 10 dias de intervalo. Dois pacientes recusaram o segundo tratamento. Com a exceção de dois pacientes, que não puderam ser acompanhados, todos os pacientes que recidivaram permaneciam em cura clínica um ano após o termino do tratamento.
Abstract
The treatment failure in American Tegumentary Leishmaniasis was investigated in 15 patients presenting the cutaneous form of the disease.
No differences were found when the data concerning age, sex and duration of the lesion were compared with results obtained from patients with good response to the specific treatment. The failure of the treatment was diagnosed by the presence of ulcers, papules, crusts, scales and/or infiltration of the area surrounding the primary lesion. Twelve out of the 15 patients were followed up until one year after the second treatment. All patients were considered as healed after one year follow- up.
